Max Born

Max Born had a distinguished career as a mathematician in Germany before he was forced to leave in 1933 to avoid the Nazis. He became a lecturer in Cambridge before being appointed Professor of Applied Mathematics in Edinburgh where he assembled a distinguished research group mainly of European refugees. He received the Nobel Prize for Physics in 1954 for his work on Quantum Mechanics. | |||||||||||||
