Research Interests
I am interested in combinatorial group theory and more generally in problems that combine algebra, number theory, and combinatorics. I am currently trying to extend ideas from my PhD work to a problem about automorphisms of Coxeter groups.Teaching
I teach A level Mathematics and Further Mathematics at Chetham's School of Music in Manchester.
As a postgraduate student (2001-2006) at the University of St Andrews I gave tutorials in 2nd year Algebra and Analysis, 1st year Pure and Applied Mathematics, 1st year Mathematics, and 1st year Introductory Mathematics. I also gave some lectures and tutorials for the Introductory Mathematics module provided by the English Language Teaching Centre.
Education
- Ph.D. Pure Mathematics, University of St Andrews, (2006). My research into Cyclically generated finite groups was supervised by Professor Edmund F. Robertson and funded by an EPSRC studentship.
- M.Sc. Mathematics (with Distinction), University of St Andrews, (2001 - 2002). My dissertation on cyclically presented groups was supervised by Professor Edmund F. Robertson.
- B.A.(Hons) Mathematical Sciences (II-I), St Hilda's College, University of Oxford, (1998 - 2001). My essay entitled `Linear algebras and applications to geometry and topology' was supervised by Dr Wilson Sutherland.
